“What Are They Really Saying?”

Listening Empathetically to Ourselves — So We Can Hear Others

Carlene Maginnis will facilitate an NVC workshop on Saturday morning, January 9, 2016, at Vanderbilt University Divinity School. This interactive workshop will focus on transforming challenging conversations into opportunities for clarity, collaboration, understanding, and respect.

“How we hear others largely depends on how we hear ourselves,” says Carlene. “In the workshop, we will learn practices of self awareness, self connection, self compassion and self empathy – sustaining factors in creating the kind of world where communication and connection thrive.”

This workshop is sponsored by the Cal Turner Program for Moral Leadership.

  • Saturday, January 9, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Room 122, Divinity School, Vanderbilt University
  • Cost: $50; $25 for VU faculty and staff; Free for students

A light breakfast will be served.

Embracing Life With Gratitude

Before the holiday candles are lit, gifts purchased, preparations for meals planned, and way before family and friends gather, give time connecting to why many of us do what we do during this time of year.

Often the holidays are associated with stress and frustration. There is another way to inhabit the holiday season….

With Gratitude.

Come! Fill your tanks with empathy, compassion, and gratitude. We’ll share:

  • Silent Empathy Skills
  • Inner Listening Skills
  • Self Compassion Practices
  • Living Gratitude Awareness

There is no better gift to ourselves and those we’ll encounter during the seasons of celebrations and life. I hope to see you!

  • November 21, 9:30 – 2:15

“I Can’t Believe You Just Said That!”

Have you thought this recently while in a conversation? Relationships can be strained and frustrating when we hold judgements and create stories about what someone says and does.

If you would like to have less conflict, more ease and more confidence in your interactions, then we invite you to join Carlene Maginnis and Zina Yzquierdo for a one-day workshop. Learn how to transform the pain of inner judgements and restore the fractures in all your relationships.

The workshop will be held on Saturday, August 29 from 9:30 am to 2:15 pm at Glendale United Methodist Church, located at 900 Glendale Ln, Nashville, TN 37204. The early bird price (payment received by Aug 23rd) is $60; the cost after the 23rd is $75.  Lunch will not be provided, so please feel free to bring your own.

To register, please email either Carlene Maginnis, clmwr123@gmail.com or Zina Yzquierdo, zina.Yzquierdo@gmail.com. This workshop is designed for new or intermediate level learners of Nonviolent Communication, but all are welcome to attend!
