Grief & Gratitude

September 27 – 29, 2019

We live our human lives in a constant state of celebration and mourning for that which we love. And yet many of us have been taught to stay away from the grief and the mourning around our losses. We often believe that we are supposed to grieve alone, rather than burdening others with our sadness. In contrast to this belief, in neurobiological reality, our grief is richest when we are able to grieve together. Many of us know the sustaining and healing powers of practicing gratitude. This too, supports the healing cycle of grief and mourning. NVC offers an added richness to the practices of gratitude that we already know and use, as well as lending it’s frame to develop a few more. Whether you’ve done a lot of NVC gratitude or this is new to you, you are welcome.

The 3-day Reconciliation and Healing learning community intensive integrates Nonviolent Communication (NVC), mindfulness, a mediation framework, and neuroscience to help you heal emotional hurt within yourself, create reconciliation between yourself and another, and help others do this.

PLAN TO BE HAPPY.

What is the source of your anguish and hurt? Maybe you feel a longtime resentment against another person, living or deceased. Or maybe someone else perceives you as the cause of their pain. In either case, relief is within reach.

The Art of Setting Boundaries

THE ART OF SETTING BOUNDARIES
APPLYING NVC PRINCIPLES IN ALL OUR RELATIONSHIPS
(just in time for the Holiday Seasons!)
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 9 -10, 2018
facilitated by
Carlene Maginnis, Certified Trainer
with The Center For Nonviolent Communication.

Many of us find setting boundaries challenging. Why? Because setting boundaries is often perceived as a way of separating ourselves from others especially when there’s conflict. What if setting boundaries in relationships within families and work environments strengthened our connections, helped to create safety, trust, belonging and ease for ourselves and others?
In this workshop, you will learn and experience:

  • Why setting boundaries are challenging
  • Empathizing with your fears when you voice what you want and the high cost of not voicing what you want;
  • How to be authentic in your yes and your no;
  • Understanding what you’re saying yes to when you say no;
  • How setting agreements are actually the glue to keeping relationships healthy and vibrant.
When:      Friday, November 9, 6:00-9:-00 p.m.
Saturday, November 10, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Where:     Glendale United Methodist Church, 900 Glendale Lane, 37204
Fee:          $100; Register for 2 or more at $75 each!

Healing from Addictions, Cravings, and Choiceless Behaviors

A Workshop for Those Who Suffer and for Those Who Love Them

September 22-23, 2018
Nashville, TN

In an ideal world, our emotional needs are met with warmth and understanding from the earliest age. For many of us, this is not the case. Instead we experience loneliness, internal conflicts and overwhelming emotional pain. Addictions and choiceless behaviors often become the brain’s creative strategies for survival.

Sarah Peyton, a certified trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication, will teach us how to disentangle nervous system wiring which keeps us locked in these unhealthy patterns. Join us to experience the way Sarah’s innovative work can support the healing process.

During the workshop, we will explore:

  • The connection between the latest brain research and the “decisions” we make that lead us toward and away from addictions and compulsions;
  • How to counteract old patterns to support healthy decision making;
  • How to leverage our own empathy skills to bring ourselves relief.
